Where I want to be in ten years...

Where I want to be in ten years...
The question "Where would you like to be in ten years?" is one that I have been asked multiple times throughout my three years at Clemson. Unfortunately my answer changes every time I am asked; this is because if I am totally honest with myself I really have no idea. I will hopefully be on a career path that I am happy with. Being a Management major with a Spanish minor I have many options for potential careers ahead of me. I will be graduating in a year and then hopefully I will either be going to graduate school or finding a job that I am excited to go to every morning. In ten years I will be 31 years old and hopefully married and starting my family. I have never been a girl who wants to completely stop working when I have children; however I will hopefully be able to take time off in the first years of my children's lives.

I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I loved growing up there. I am not one to want to move directly home right after graduation but in the next ten years I am sure that I will be reaching a point in my life that I would like to move back. Having a family and becoming a good mother and wife is very important to me. As a result I believe that my lifestyle will revolve around my family as much as it can and then my career in order to be a good mother.

"The Machine is Us/ing Us"

After viewing this video I have started looking at the title “The Machine is Us/ing Us” in a very different light than before watching. At first I was unsure as to what the usage of “Us/ing” was intended to portray; however after watching the video I realize that they were trying to portray the way that html used to be written in the first web pages ever designed. I believe that Web 2.0 allows people ready to enter the workforce to do a significant amount of research on potential employers, and potential places to live. Web 2.0 facilitates an opportunity to be a much more educated candidate to positions in the workforce. When given the opportunity to ask questions at the end of an interview, there is a much higher possibility of knowing something about the company and the work they do, if information about the company has been accessible to the applicant. I believe that when it says we will have to rethink everything it means that with ever changing technology we will always have to find different ways to improve the accessibility of this information. We will have to find a different way, other than basic knowledge, to evaluate differences between potential candidates for jobs because this knowledge has become so easily accessible.

Just alittle bit about myself....

Hey yall,

My name is Lauren and I am from Charlotte, North Carolina. I am a junior Business Management major and am getting a minor in Spanish. I have lived in Charlotte my whole life, except for the year and a half I spent at boarding school in Rhode Island. I have always enjoyed going off on my own to try new things. In high school I spent a summer in Spain, and have loved traveling internationally ever since. I love hanging out with my friends, cooking, Clemson football and especially tailgating. I am a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and have recently stepped down from my executive position. I have loved being in a sorority since my freshman year, and have met my best friends because of it. Ironically enough my favorite holiday is Christmas but I hate the cold; unless it is snowing! My picture is a picture of my roommates and myself on a game day! If yall have any other questions about me please ask! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!
